Where are they now?

Coach Lynn Whitten

In 2001 Coach Lynn Whitten retired form coaching and teaching.  He began his carreer as an assistant basketball coach for the Alton Comits (1967).  After one year at Alton he traveled to Dixon to become the 9th grade and assistant varsity basketball coach.  Coach Whitten took over the head coaching position at Dixon in 1979 (79-84).  He again took over the helm in 1993 (93-01).

Besides basketball, he coached Bulldog golf from 1969 to 2001.  His golf teams won three straight district championships (99, 00, 01) and finished second in state in 2000 and in 2001.

During his short departure from the basketball coaching position he officiated full time (84-93).  During this time he officiated in the final four class 4A State Championship (91).

Besides the above accomplishments, other memorable moments were the 1968-1969 state championship season and winning the basketball district championship in 1981.

Coach Whitten has been married to his wife Jody for 27 years and has two daughters, Alicia, age 25 and Jordan, age 21.  He currently is a part time house painter and is still officiating softball and volleyball.  He also can be seen on the golf course.

We want to thank Coach Whitten for all the memorable moments he has given us in his long, long coaching carreer.
